Project 7:14

One of the great things about Eastside Community Church is that we are not bound by tradition. We intentionally live on the cutting edge, and the one area where this is most true is in the area of technology. Eastside Community is seeking to leverage technology to penetrate the lostness of our world to fulfill the Great Commission (see Matthew 28:18-20).

As we prepare for the days ahead [i.e., Sacred Assembly on Friday, March 23, 2012; Easter Weekend (April 7/8); the launch of our new church-wide study: Live Like You Where Dying; adding 100 new parking spots; and preparing to launch a second worship service] we are going to do an experiment using the Bible and technology. Here’s the scoop: we are going to practice 2 Chronicles 7:14 during the month of March to prepare our hearts in corporate prayer. What would happen if we circled this promise in prayer for thirty days? Let’s find out.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

What if our entire faith family fell on our collective knees in prayer every morning at 7:14 AM? Honestly, the time isn’t the issue. I just think 7:14 is a nice trigger. It can be 7:13 or 7:15. It can be 6:37 or 8:22. AM or PM? You choose – it’s not about the time per se. It’s about establishing a humble habit of kneeling before the Lord on a daily basis. You can hit your knees when you get out of bed or when you get into bed. And it’s not about bowing the knee. It’s about bowing the heart.

Are you in? Would you be willing to pray for revival every day for thirty days? For two or ten or thirty or sixty minutes? If you want to be part of Project 7:14, text the word REVIVAL to 859.661.5373. We’ll send out a short text message at 7:14 AM every day during the month of March. Spread the word…

Let’s not seek blessings, miracles or opportunities. Let’s seek God!

“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all of these things will be added to as well.” Matthew 6:33

Pastor Virgil

PS I picked this idea up from Mark Batterson
