Disaster Relief Update

Dear Friends,

Here are some reflections from the team that delivered the supplies from Madison County yesterday.

On Sunday, 12 members from Eastside were able to help people affected by Friday’s tornado in Meniffee and Morgan Counties. We began in Meniffe County at the Meniffee County School, where we unloaded all the items donated from Madison County. At the school, the ladies on the trip, were able to help pack boxes of food and hygiene items to deliver to the people in need. We hauled water to Botts Elementary (Meniffee Co.), for they were in need of water. We also got to see some of the damage in Meniffee Co as we visited Fletcher Ridge, Rattliff Road and Old State Road delivering items to those in need. We saw where several homes had suffered damage from the tornadoes, and other homes were completely destroyed. West Liberty was also in need of clothing, so our team stepped up and volunteered to re-load our trucks and trailers to haul clothing to two different locations in Morgan County. Along the way we drove through the path of what was left from the tornado. The storm has left behind a trail of insulation hanging from trees, shredded sheet metal, and wrecked cars. The images of yesterday will forever be in our hearts and on our minds. There is hope for the victims of Kentucky during this natural disaster. Thank you to each and every Madison County Family who donated and prayed for this mission. This could not have happened without our GOD and your willingness to serve.

Thanks for your generosity,

Give The Gift of Food This Christmas Season

Dear E-News Friends,

This past Sunday morning, Eastside collected enough funds to help God’s Outreach Food Pantry of Madison County to purchase 61.24 holiday food baskets for the needy this year or $1,531.00. Their theme for this year’s food drive is “Give the Gift of Food” this Christmas.

God’s Outreach Food Pantry of Madison County plans to distribute 1,400 food baskets this Christmas. They are seeking a minimum $25.00  donation per basket. If you did not have an opportunity to give on Sunday then feel free to make an online donation through Eastside’s Online Giving System, see below for more details.

Christmas Giving On-Line

In the season of gift giving to family and friends and those less fortunate, we hope you will also consider your gift to Eastside Community Church. It is through the donations of every individual and family in the congregation that we are able to carry on ministry. You can use our electronic giving option for both regular offering and one-time giving. To help us achieve a more consistent level of funding, we encourage you to use electronic giving for your regular offering. Visit www.eastside-cc.com and click on the red GIVE NOW button. Please contact the church office for additional details or questions.

Love and Prayers,

TIS THE SEASON TO GIVE

Dear E-News Family:

Christmas is the season to give. I would like to update you on some of the giving that Eastside has been doing lately during this season of giving….

1. Amy Collins is on her way back from Guatemala. She and a few other people from Central Kentucky went to Guatemala to Christmas shop for the girls home in Guatemala. Eastside gave $2,435.00 for this endeavor.

2. Day of Hope Sponsorship – Eastside helped to sponsor the Day of Hope Event in Berea where a meal was served to over 800 families who also received a box of food for the Holiday Season. A group of men from Berea takes the lead on this endeavor each year. Eastside provided the following for this event: $1,600.00 in sponsorship; the block party trailer with about 20 volunteers working throughout the day.

3. Children/Preschool Christmas Play and Mission Meal – The children/preschool departments did an AWESOME job last night. After their wonderful performance (which I may add was the best in our church history) we had a mission dinner which collected $1,425.00 for the Ty Lucas Foundation and Toys for Tots. I would like to thank our Tuesday Night Men’s Group for sponsoring this event and BIG SHOUT-OUT goes to Leigh Pence at Butt Rubb BBQ who once again cooked our briskets for FREE of CHARGE! Their number is 277-0099. Way to go, Eastsiders!  You are the best.

4. Baskets for Richmond Manor Residents – The children’s department is currently collecting 20 baskets to give away at our Christmas Party for the children/families at Richmond Manor. Eastside is doing a weekly Bible Study on Wednesday nights with the children. We have 6 baskets that still needs to be taken. The approximate cost of each basket is $87.00. Contact Carla Perry at 893-4757 or at cperry@eastside-baptist.com for more information.

5. Collection for Ty Lucas Foundation and Toys for Tots – Eastside’s Preschool and Children Departments have been conducting a toy drive for the Ty Lucas Foundation and Toys for Tots. As of today, we have collected around 100 new toys. That’s AWESOME Baby.

Tis the season to give….I am so glad to be a part of a GIVING CONGREGATION! Eastside ROCKS!

Remember…Jesus is the reason for the season!

Have a great week,

Pastor VG

Your Help is Needed

Hello!!

We are compiling a cookbook to raise funds for several key ministries at Eastside.   It is our goal to raise enough funds so that anyone who has a desire to attend the 2011 Women of Faith Conference will be able to do so, as well as, contribute a percentage of the earnings from the cookbook to the Feed My Starving Children’s Ministry and the Madison County Backpack Ministry!  Thank you so much for being a part of this very important endeavor.

I have attached a paper recipe form and below is the website to go to to type the recipes in yourself. All the information is below. We can’t have too many recipes, so please share this with the women in your life and your small groups!! Please have them call me with any questions 859-200-1858. Deadline for accepting recipes will be November 15, 2010 Again, thanks and may your cup and plate overflow with blessings!!
