My Prayer for us, Eastside Community, is the prayer that Paul prayed in Philippians 3:10, “That I may know HIM and the power of HIS resurrection….” My prayer is for us to have a personal, intimate relationship with Christ.
I love the words of Brennan Manning related to this subject matter,
“We must never allow the authority of books, institutions, or leaders to replace the authority of KNOWING Jesus Christ personally and directly. When the religious views of others interpose between us and the primary experience of Jesus as the Christ, we become unconvicted and unpersuasive travel agents handing out brochures to places we have never visited.
There is only one thing God asks of us–that we be men and women of prayer, people who live close to God, people for whom God is everything and for whom God is enough. That is the root of peace. We have that peace when the gracious God is all we seek. When we start seeking something besides him, we lose it.” (The Ragamuffin Gospel, pages 45-46)
What is your prayer for Eastside?
I hope to see you on Sunday at 10:50 am.
