Random Thoughts & Reflections From the Last Week

December 21, 2009

90_03_36-christmas-decorations_web2Dear Church Family:

Here are some of my thoughts from the last week:

Eastside has never experienced such grief and pain then we experienced last week with the passing of Baby Ty Lucas. I have been Eastside’s pastor for the last 20 years and I have never personally experienced anything like I experienced last week. Continue to be in prayer for Todd and Angie. Todd and Angie will need our prayers for weeks and months to come.

Eastside’s Prayer List: Shirley Grant, Albert Brewer, Lewis and Judy Grant, Nelson and Jane Young, Meredith Reed passing of her grandfather, Ralph Walton, Allen Feldhaus Sr, Shelby Dotson, Margie Byrd, Debbie and Scott Smith, James Cowan

Welcome New Members: Dwayne, Nan, & Luke Shepherd and Sarah Meadows

Elders for 2010
You might remember that last month Eastside installed two new elders, Larry Taulbee and Chris Clark. Eastside’s elders make yearly commitments to their leadership position. I am grateful to have both Chris and Larry serving alongside me during the coming year. Kevin Wallace, who has served as an elder for the past three years, feels led to focus on other areas of ministry in 2010. Please join me in thanking Kevin for his service.

Business Administration Team Update:
Chris Clark has resigned from the business administration team member effective December 1, 2009. I am happy to announce that Bobby Jones will be Eastside’s newest business administrative team member starting in January 1, 2010. Bobby will join current members Allen Grant, Jr, Beverly Burrus,  Brent Ray, Regina Douglas, and Bill Bradley.

Christmas Eve Worship Gatherings:
Eastside’s first two Christmas Eve Worship Gatherings has been a huge success we have had a combined attendance of 250. There are two remaining worship gatherings left: Wednesday at 6:30 pm and Thursday at 12:30 pm. Please make every effort to attend one of the remaining Christmas Eve Worship Gatherings.

Church Office Schedule:
Church offices will be closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25, 2009 so our staff can celebrate Christmas with their families.

Eastside will have Worship ONLY on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 10:50 am. No small group Bible Study classes will be meeting.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Pastor Virgil, Rose, Jacob, and Rachel Rae
