Reflections from 2009

Dear Friends,

I want to take this opportunity to do 2 things:

First, I hope that you and your family have a wonderful, prosperous, and happy New Year. I pray that you will grow closer to God in 2010. I pray for you to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). I pray that you will be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). May you trust in God with all your heart rather than trusting in your ownself (Proverbs 3:5-6). May we labor together in 2010 to make His name knownn to the nations.

Finally, I want to express to you what a privilege it is for me to be your pastor, friend, shepherd, preacher, and spiritual leader. I do not take this lightly. I understand that one day I will have to stand before God and give an account of my life and the way I shepherd and lead the sheep at Eastside.

I would use three words to describe Eastside. Before I give you my three words, what three words would you use to describe this past year at Eastside? Here are my three: BELONG,  BECOME, BLESS

We have witnessed more people than ever before find a place to belong. Small groups are a place for people to belong, to develop spiritual friendships, to have a safe place to share, to know and to be known, to love and to be loved, to care and be cared for. A small group is the best place to find acceptance and to belong. If you aren’t currently attending a small group then I would encourage you to check out our small groups by clicking here.

We have seen a lot of spiritual growth in the lives of almost everyone associated with Eastside. People at Eastside are being conformed into the likeness of Christ.  In other words, they are becoming more like Jesus as they read the Bible, serve others, attend small group and worship, as they give their offerings to God, as they listen and follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit. As we are conformed into the likeness of Christ then we reflect more of His glory.

Bless is the mindset of blessing everyone we come into contact with. Bless is about living missional each day. Being a blessing is about living in obedience to Christ and to the promptings of His Spirit. It is about followingn the leadings of the Spirit. Being a blessing is about YOU being the answer to someone’s prayer.
