Dear E-News Friends,

How are you doing with memorizing Eastside’s Vision Statement? Do you remember it? It is only three words…Disciples Making Disciples.

Eastside’s Vision Statement begs the question, “What is a disciple?”

The mandate to make disciples is given to us in Matthew 28:18-20 by Jesus.

Jesus defines for us what a disciple is in Matthew 4:19, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Being a disciple of Christ means a transformation of one’s head, heart, and hands.

A disciple is someone who knows and follow Christ (follow me). Discipleship begins with a head knowledge of Christ.

A disciple is being changed by Christ (I will make you). Discipleship continues with one’s heart being changed.

A disciple is committed to the mission of Christ (fishers of men). Discipleship culminates in one’s hands being used to bring glory to God.

PS We will be observing Communion on Sunday.
