Jesus’ public ministry (His last 3 1/2 years) was devoted to investing in 12 men intentionally. These 12 men goes on to turn the world upside down after Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. So, here is the question that you and I have to answer in 2013, “What is your plan for making disciples in 2013?”
You may be a little intimidated by that question but as a Christian that is your “marching order” for 2013, 2014, 2015, etc.
According to Jim Putnam of Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, Idaho, discipleship is God’s plan for reaching the world. Jim advocates that disciple-making is based upon multiplication, not addition. If a disciple makes a disciple who can make disciples, mathematically the process might look something like this:
- One disciple makes three disciple-makers every five years.
- If those disciples do the same every five years, in ten years there will be almost 180,000 disciple-makers.
- If they continue, in 70 years there are potentially 14 BILLION disciple-makers. That is twice the number of people currently occupying our planet.
What holds you back from making 3 disciple-makers in the next 5 years?
What 3 actions can you take this year to begin making disciples intentionally?
Happy New Year,
